‘Agatha All Along’ finally released it’s two last episodes. The ending was bittersweet but teased a bright future for Wiccan, Jennifer, and well, Agatha, depending on how you look at it.

Agatha’s story in the MCU has concluded but there’s still some opportunity to bring her back in the future, so what are the odds of the show getting a second season?

Keep in mind that the following paragraphs contain extreme spoilers for ‘Agatha All Along.’ Read at your own risk.

In the final two episodes, the show revealed what happened to Nicholas Scratch, and what exactly happened between Rio Vidal aka Death, and Agatha centuries ago. We’ve learned that Agatha was supposed to have a stillbirth and Rio Vidal, due to loving her, couldn’t stop her son from dying but was able to give him more time in exchange for Agatha delivering a steady count of bodies, Witch bodies to be more precise. Many souls for one soul.

In their brief time together, Nicholas and Agatha came up with the ballad of the Witches Road, and when Nicholas died, Agatha continued peddling the idea of the place. Unfortunately, a lot of Witches fell for the idea, but it was just a ruse so Agatha could steal their magic and life force.

Unsurprisingly, the show also revealed that Billy was behind the Witches Road. He manifested it out of nothing by using his raw reality-altering power, suggesting that his reality-bending powers might surpass even those of his mother, Scarlet Witch.

Billy was always out to find his twin brother, and he managed to do just that. Agatha and Billy focused and found a boy who was just about to drown, Billy (presumably) successfully guided his brother’s soul toward the now-empty vessel in a manner similar to how he came to inhabit Billy Kaplan’s body.

What Billy didn’t know is that Death was always after him, the mere fact he was alive was a gross violation of natural laws and Rio had to make it right. Unfortunately, Billy had to come to her alone, giving up on his life otherwise if he is outright killed by her, he will just reincarnate into something else entirely.

Agatha once again made a deal with Death and promised to deliver Billy, and Billy was close to truly sacrificing himself to save Agatha when the old witch changed her mind. Rio Vidal came to “reap” either Billy or Agatha and ultimately she took Agatha meaning that Billy was now free to live his life undisturbed.

Agatha however returns among the living, as a ghost and admits that she can’t face her son after all those centuries. Billy assures her that Nicholas won’t hate her but still Agatha decides to hang around a bit, suggesting to help Billy find her newly-reincarnated brother Tommy.

The show pretty much concluded Agatha’s character arc, while leaving other arcs open, Jennifer’s, Billy’s, and even Rio’s. We don’t know what Rio is up to now, or what Jennifer is up to now that she has her powers back.

We’re certain that the characters will appear in future projects, but it’s unlikely that those future projects will be ‘Agatha All Along’ season 2. First, the show is a miniseries and it was never planned to expand beyond its initial 9 episodes. Sure ‘Loki’ has gotten a second season but this is purely due to the character’s enormous role in the Multiverse Saga and Kang’s involvement with the show.

Agatha’s story doesn’t have that importance even if the show is among the best ones that the MCU delivered.

Then there’s also the fact that Marvel Studios is reportedly planning a ‘Midnight Sons’ project based on the team of the same name in the comics. This is likely where Jennifer’s story might continue. She is after all related to two Ghost Riders and the team is heavily involved in magical, occult, and supernatural affairs.

Besides the ‘Midnight Sons’ project, rumors are also claiming that Marvel Studios is developing a solo project focusing on Wiccan and the search for his brother. Even if ‘Agatha All Along’ doesn’t get a second season, this project might be a spiritual successor. Since Agatha promised Wiccan she would help him find his brother, it’s likely that she will appear in that project.

Wiccan is also likely to appear in the planned project focusing on Young Avengers, considering that he is a really important member of the team in the comics. It’s also been teased that the MCU will eventually adapt the Children’s Crusade storyline.

It’s really not the end of the road for the magical gang, but ‘Agatha All Along’ is unlikely to get a second season, and so far there isn’t any news related to the subject. After all, if the decision to renew the series is made we’re likely going to have to wait several weeks.
