‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is releasing soon and will bring back familiar characters like Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen.
While the plot is mostly unknown, we know that Kingpin will be the Mayor of New York City and will use his power to get rid of vigilantes and superheroes. One more character set to return to the show is Wilson Bethel who famously portrayed Bullseye in the original ‘Daredevil’ show. The character was originally secret but set leaks confirmed his role.
At Fan Expo San Francisco, Wilson Bethel joined Charlie Cox for a panel where they talked about their careers and return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Bethel confirmed he will reprise his role as Bullseye for the first time since Season 3.
Bethel also discussed something that was only recently confirmed. There’s is a pretty big time jump between original Netflix show and ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ He says that the upcoming show reflects both the changes in the characters and the actors since the original show ended.
The five years between seasons will be explored, with each character starting from a different place. Bethel believes that the actors’ life experiences during that time will make their performances deeper and more meaningful. What he’s learned from other projects has also helped him bring more to his return as Bullseye.
Yeah, I mean, Charlie sort of alluded to it. But I think one of the things that’s interesting is, I mean, maybe it’s different on a sitcom or something like that, but if you’re on a show for over a period of time and the characters are aging together sort of in real-time, and if the show is well written and the writers are sort of responding to that reality transpiring, the wrinkles of their hair, et cetera, then in theory, the character is evolving in a way, whether or not the show was on air.
So there’s kind of like this funny thing stepping back after five years where Born Again will pick up with that amount of time having transpired. The show doesn’t pick up the day after we last saw it. It picks up five years later.
And so in theory, these are characters who have all lived five years of life and all of the twists and turns that you take in the meantime. So whether or not even those stories are necessarily on screen, there’s just that little extra bit of life in there, which I think is… as an actor, it gives you an opportunity to bring whatever your own journey has been in that time and they get sort of a little longer in the tooth.

Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter in the original show is a dangerous FBI agent who can turn anything into a deadly weapon. He grew up in an orphanage and was sent for psychiatric treatment after killing his baseball coach.
With the help of his treatment and military training, he kept his morals until his psychiatrist died. After that, he was manipulated by Wilson Fisk to become a fake Daredevil, killing people for Fisk and ruining Matt Murdock’s reputation.
Eventually, Murdock showed Poindexter that Fisk had controlled him, leading to a violent showdown between Poindexter, Fisk, and Murdock. Poindexter ended up paralyzed, and Fisk was arrested.
We can’t wait to see the continuation of his character arc. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
