Leslye Headland Reveals Connection Between Witches of Brendok and the Greatest Jedi in the History of the Order Through New Force Power

This week’s episode of ‘The Acolyte’ was met with mixed reactions, mainly due to the portrayal of the Jedi but it also cleared the connection between Osha, Mae, and Force Vergence, and introduced some new Force abilities, beyond what we’ve previously seen in live action.

At several moments during the episode, the Witches of Brendok, mainly Mother Aniseya and Mother Korin managed to transform themselves into an ethereal black smoke.

Seeing this led Master Sol to completely lose hold of his senses, and it caused him to kill Mother Aniseya, sparking a chain of events that kickstarted the whole plot of ‘The Acolyte.’

The power looks cool, despite clearly being associated with the Dark Side, but in her latest interview with the Nerdist, Leslye Headland cleared up that we’ve already sort of seen this power in action, as it’s closely related to the transformation into Force Spirit.

What she is doing is what Jecki says in episode four, that it’s an honor to see anyone transform into the Force. I believe that Aniseya is transforming herself and Mae into the Force in a way that doesn’t kill them.

Witches of Brendok have already been proven to be quite powerful, this is likely due to their unique philosophy but also due to Force Vergence on the planet. However, this latest revelation seems to imply that they are able to utilize some powers that were off-limits to the likes of Palpatine, and some powers that only the greatest Jedi in the history of the order managed to attain.

In the Star Wars universe, becoming a Force ghost is a rare and advanced ability attained by Jedi who have achieved a deep understanding of the Force and have learned to preserve their consciousness after death, we’ve only seen a few Jedi attaining such powerful understanding, for example, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, among others.

Force ghosts typically appear to guide and mentor living Jedi or individuals who are sensitive to the Force. They may offer wisdom, advice, or teachings that are crucial for the ongoing struggle against darkness or for the preservation of balance in the Force.

It seems however that Witches of Brendok may do this at will, and without any special preparation, and can do it while alive without giving up on their physical vessel. It’s certainly intriguing how a whole coven of such powerful individuals was wiped up by a simple misunderstanding.
