With RDJ’s Announcement as Doom, Fans Immediately Forgot about Majors: “Kang Who?”

Following the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qunatumania’ the superhero media world was shaken by allegations brought to light against Jonathan Majors, introduced in ‘Loki’ Season 1 as Victor Timely and in ‘Quantumania’ as Kang the Conqueror, the next big villain for the Multiversal Saga.

Jonathan Majors’ career has been in somewhat of a freefall ever since he was arrested in March 2023 after an alleged assault of a woman he knew and was rumored to be his girlfriend. He was laid off from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring the actor were pulled.

However, the actor maintained his innocence throughout the process, and his legal team assured him that they’d prove his undoubted innocence. First, they released text messages between Majors and the alleged victim, but that only seemed to backfire against Jonathan – at least in the public eye.

In December 2023, the guilty verdict came and Disney fired Majors, which prompted numerous changes within the franchise. Following his departure, ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ was retitled as only Avengers 5, and the studio has allegedly begun to look for a replacement or another villain to replace Kang the Conqueror.

The mess with Majors culminated during this year’s SDCC when ‘Avengers 5’ was revealed as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and it’s been announced that Robert Downey Jr. will be playing Doctor Doom, a villain supposedly meant to replace Majors’ Kang.

Now there have been several criticisms toward RDJ’s Doom, most of them legitimate, but for the most part, the reactions have been amazing and the fans can’t wait to see him in the next two installments.

Majors still has a very strong fanbase online, a group of fans who still advocate for his return to the MCU, but, for the most part, the fans have already forgotten about Majors, the reasons why are obvious, but it’s mostly due to his first outing as Kang the Conqueror was nothing special.

Majors portrayed He Who Remains and Victor Timely as well in both seasons of ‘Loki’ and the general consensus is that his portrayal has been brilliant. However, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ really did a large disservice to the character. Kang was never supposed to face Ant-Family and die at the hands of ants. Many fans agree that this sort of direction kind of ruined the sense of urgency and danger.

But as I’ve mentioned fans are already prepared to move onto the next big thing, and the social media reactions reflect that:
