‘Wonder Man’ spent a lot of time in development with practically no updates, which is why we were surprised when recently the show released its first teaser trailer and revealed the release date.

The project has a lot of potential for the future of the MCU considering Wonder Man’s connection to both Vision and Scarlet Witch in the comics.

The show will follow Simon Williams, an actor and stuntperson who gains superpowers and becomes a superhero called Wonder Man. It will be a satire and a love letter to Hollywood.

The show was created by Destin Cretton and Andrew Guest, who is the showrunner. It will be released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, meaning you don’t need to watch previous MCU shows to understand it, and it will be aimed at a more mature audience.

The show has been in development for several years, and the main cast has been announced. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, while Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery, and Demetrius Grosse portrays Eric Williams, Simon’s brother, and a villain. Ed Harris will play Simon’s agent, Neal Saroyan, with Lauren Glazier and Josh Gad in undisclosed roles.

Besides the show, we don’t really know where Wonder Man fits into the current MCU, luckily, notable insider Alex Perez shared some info regarding the character’s future in his recent Discord Q&A:

rapsfan:  Can you tell us any info on Wonder Man?

Alex Perez: He’s apparently scheduled to show up in the next Avengers’ films, so it’ll be interesting to see where his story goes there.

It will be interesting indeed, especially taking into account some recent statements made by Marvel’s Head of Streaming and Television, Brad Winderbaum.

He teased that the story will focus on the unlikely pairing of Simon Williams (Wonder Man) and Trevor Slattery, which fans got a glimpse of in the trailer. While he avoided giving away too many plot details, he expressed excitement about how much the project will pay tribute to the West Coast Avengers comics and the source material.

He also described the project as a “love letter to Hollywood,” promising a fun and nostalgic experience.
