Writer-Director Kelly Marcel Has the Perfect Villain for Knull Following ‘Venom: The Last Dance’

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ releases this Friday globally. The movie is supposed to be the final installment of the SSU’s ‘Venom’ franchise and Tom Hardy’s farewell to the role. Knull is also set to appear in the movie, although it’s already been confirmed that his role will be relatively minor as he won’t be the main villain.

There are bigger stories to tell surrounding Knull, and that’s fair considering that he is one of Marvel’s most feared and gruesome villains. One movie simply isn’t enough to introduce him and quite frankly, no one currently in the SSU has the juice to take him on and live to tell the tale.

This is clearly something that Writer-Director Kelly Marcel thought about. The cast and crew of the movie are currently undergoing a press circuit prior to the release and Hardy and Marcel recently sat down with ComicBook to discuss some details regarding the potential future of the franchise.

Marcel was asked who could be the potential new villain Knull could face, assuming it’s not Venom:

Both Marcel and Hardy shared looks and Hardy commented that they “can’t go there.” Meaning that some plans are definitely set in motion but they can’t share it with the public, considering it would be a massive spoiler. Still, Marcel did give us some food for thought:

I’ll say who I think it should be. I think that Toxin should be a great adversary for Knull. As he is in the books.

Before the movie’s second trailer was released, it’s been widely speculated that Toxin would appear in the movie as one of the villains. He might still appear, but clearly, his appearance won’t hold as much weight, considering revelations surrounding Knull.

Toxin possesses abilities similar to those of Venom and Carnage, including enhanced strength, speed, agility, and the ability to produce tendrils and web-like structures.

Toxin can also camouflage itself and has regenerative capabilities. Its power level is significantly higher than that of other symbiotes, as it is described as a combination of Venom and Carnage’s abilities.

It’s important to mention that Knull is also heavily rumored to be the main villain of ‘Spider-Man 4’ so we’re not exactly sure whether this Toxin showdown would happen in Knull’s native SSU or in the MCU. However other symbiotes are rumored to crossover as well.
