For many fans, Deadpool & Wolverine was the most anticipated film of the year. Featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, the movie has lived up to expectations and continues to draw crowds worldwide. Packed with numerous Easter eggs, it’s a hit with fans who are still discovering hidden references.
While the film includes a wealth of Easter eggs, not every character made it to the final version. Despite having access to a wide range of characters, some intriguing ones were left out. In this report, we’ll focus on one such character who didn’t make the cut.
We’re talking about Ben Affleck’s Daredevil. Although the movie mentions Daredevil and features a representative from his universe in Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Affleck himself was not included. Why did he miss out, and was he ever considered? We’ll uncover the details soon!
In a recent interview with IndieWire, Deadpool & Wolverine writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick shared intriguing insights about the film’s production. When asked about the inclusion of Ben Affleck’s Daredevil, the writers explained what happened to that particular idea. Here’s what they revealed:
Which of the Fox Universe characters did you really want to get and, for whatever reason, could not?
Reese: I think the answer’s nobody. I think everybody we asked said yes.
Wernick: Daredevil we wanted.
Reese: Did we want to get Ben [Affleck]? We never asked Ben though, I don’t think.
Wernick: At some point, Ben was on the list.
Reese: He was on the list, but I don’t think it ever came into script pages or actually asking him. One of the great joys of “Deadpool” is the fact that, in its success, it became easier and easier to attract other folks to the movie. I mean, Ryan has these folks’ names generally on in his Rolodex. Not as though Rolodex exists anymore, but his contact list.
