A Little History

Unlike the other “X” incarnations, X-Force takes a much more aggressive and militant approach to the way it deals with its enemies and problems. X-Force rose to notoriety during the early 1990’s and did so on the back of its artist and creator, Rob Liefeld. Since its inception, the roster has undergone numerous overhauls and character changes. Some of the characters to enter and leave include Wolverine, Psylocke, Archangel, Deadpool, Cyclops, and even X-23.

Looking to change the bleak reality of his own timeline, Cable traveled back to the present day. Upon his arrival, he took the New Mutants under his wing and transformed them into a team that would take a much more in your face approach to mutant persecution. He called his team, X-Force.

His team initially consisted of Cannonball, Boom-Boom, Warpath, Shatterstar, Feral, Domino, and, of course, himself. The team began its mission against the Mutant Liberation Front and their leader, the clone of Cable, Stryfe. Unfortunately, all that X-Force stood for, “Stop the threat before it stops you” wound up costing them their credibility. As a consequence, the team was seen more as a threat to society and even their mutant counterparts.

In the present day comics, X-Force is a team that is usually tasked with the missions that the other “X” teams either cannot do or would risk their reputation by doing.
