‘You’ Superfan Cardi B Teases the Trailer for the Series’s Fifth and Final Season

Netflix is gearing up for the fifth and final season of its hit psychological thriller “You,” set to premiere on April 24, 2025. To build excitement, the streaming giant brought in Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B, a well-known fan of the series, to preview the official trailer dropping on March 11, 2025. In a short video, Cardi shared her enthusiasm, hinting at a surprise in store for viewers.

Cardi B, who’s had a playful online friendship with Badgley for years, didn’t hold back her excitement. “Hello, you,” she said, mimicking Joe’s creepy tone. “When I tell you … girl, I am shook,” she added. “I cannot wait, and it’s like they got a little, cute surprise. I cannot wait for you guys to see the trailer. Y’all gonna gag. Got me gagging!

Her connection with Badgley started when he praised her social media authenticity in an interview, sparking a fun exchange that once led Netflix to jokingly petition for her to guest star in Season 4. While that didn’t happen, her song “I Like It” made it into the season’s premiere.

The series follows Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, a serial killer with a twisted sense of charm. This time, Joe is back in New York City, living with his British wife, Kate Galvin, portrayed by Charlotte Ritchie. Kate, now head of the Lockwood Corporation, stands by Joe despite knowing he’s a murderer—a fact he’s kept hidden about her own father’s death. Their new life among the city’s elite isn’t as peaceful as Joe might hope, with his dark past threatening to unravel everything.

This final chapter introduces fresh faces to stir up Joe’s world. Madeline Brewer joins as Bronte, a free-spirited playwright working at Joe’s bookstore. Their bond over books and loss sparks nostalgia in Joe, making him question his current life. Anna Camp plays dual roles as Raegan Lockwood, a ruthless CFO eyeing control of the family business, and Maddie Lockwood, a manipulative socialite. Griffin Matthews rounds out the main cast as Teddy Lockwood, Joe’s sarcastic but loyal brother-in-law who’s never fully fit into the Lockwood clan.

Returning characters include Tati Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy, Joe’s past obsession, while recurring players like Natasha Behnam as aloof hipster Dominique and Pete Ploszek as ex-footballer Harrison add tension. A mysterious young woman also enters the mix, challenging Joe’s carefully built facade.

Netflix ordered the 10-episode season on March 24, 2023, with filming kicking off a year later in New York City and wrapping up in August 2024. Sera Gamble, the show’s co-creator, stepped down as showrunner, handing the reins to Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo. Delays from the 2023 writers and actors’ strikes pushed the release from its original 2024 target.

Fans can expect a wild ride when “You” drops next month. As Cardi B put it, there’s something in the trailer that’s got everyone buzzing—and it’s only a taste of what’s to come.
