A new Spider-Man animated TV series called ‘Spider-Man: Freshman Year’ was announced for Disney+ back November 12, 2021, with Jeff Trammell as the writer and executive producer. At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, it was revealed that the show would premiere in 2024, alongside news of a sequel series, ‘Spider-Man: Sophomore Year.’ Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures was announced to produce the series on July 14, 2023, using cutting-edge CG technology. The premiere date was confirmed for November 2, 2024. Additionally, the series underwent a title change from ‘Spider-Man: Freshman Year’ to ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ on December 11, 2023.

Now as the release date looms closer, rumors are circulating around potential characters to appear in the show. According to CanWeGetSomeToast, a notable leaker and scooper, The Watcher will be included in the show, although the leaker did not elaborate to what extent.

Uatu, also known as the Watcher, is a fifth-dimensional being who observes the Multiverse from the Nexus of All Realities. Despite an oath not to interfere, he breaks it when Ultron, wielding the Infinity Stones, poses a threat to the Multiverse. Uatu recruits heroes like Captain Carter, Star-Lord, Doctor Strange, Erik Killmonger, Gamora, Thor, and later Black Widow to form the Guardians of the Multiverse. He first appeared in ‘What If…?’ animated series and later made an appearance in one episode of the ‘I Am Groot’ series of animated shorts.
