Zachary Levi’s Endorsement of Trump Disappoints Fans

Share:

You may have heard that Hollywood actor Zachary Levi, best known for his role as Shazam in the DCEU, recently endorsed GOP candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

Following support from more prominent celebrities like Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lawrence for Kamala Harris, Levi has joined a controversial list of lesser-known celebrities endorsing Trump, including Roseanne Barr, Russell Brand, Jim Caviezel, Kelsey Grammer, Rob Schneider, Jon Voight, and James Woods.

Levi initially supported Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has since withdrawn from the race and encouraged voters to back Trump. With RFK Jr. out of the picture, Levi has naturally(?) transitioned to endorse Trump’s campaign.

While it’s unclear why he chose to publicly support Trump or how closely his political views align with Trump’s, this endorsement has led to significant backlash. Many fans are bitterly disappointed by his decision, with some going so far as to claim that he has jeopardized his career.

To be honest, Levi is not considered an A-list actor. He had a decent performance in Shazam! (though the sequel was widely panned), and he gained recognition from his role in Chuck, but there aren’t many major projects to his name.

While he has had some moderately successful ventures, he doesn’t hold the same status as stars like Robert Downey Jr. or Michael Keaton.

That said, celebrity endorsements play a significant role in politics, and politicians often welcome any support they can get, as each celebrity has a fanbase they might inspire to vote.

Although many fans are outraged by Levi’s endorsement, it shouldn’t be too surprising when you consider one of his tweets from 2020:

This comes across as a weak attempt to rationalize an action you weren’t comfortable with, and one fan had an insightful comment about this back then:

As mentioned, Levi is now openly endorsing Trump, which is his right to do. However, it appears that many of his fans disapprove, and he may end up losing a significant portion of them moving forward.
